An American Rococo Carved Rosewood Bedstead, mid-19th c., probably New Orleans, scroll headboard with shell crest above fruit and foliage, tapering post with turned and bead waist and gadrooned urn finial, foliate scroll side supports centering a rondel, conforming footboard, height 73 in., width 72 in. E7000/9000 Provenance: Descended in the family of Miss Katherine Nobles, New Orleans. Miss Nobles was a charter member of Louisiana's first woman's suffrage organization, the Portia, the local Daughters of the Confederacy and the Restrictive Liquor League. At the time of her death in 1900, Miss Nobles was the Society Editor of the New Orleans Daily States.
