An Exceptional American Classical Mahogany and Gilt Stencilled Pier Table, c. 1825, New York, the original rectangular marble top above a torus molded frieze with classical motifs simulating ormolu mounts, the lower border enhanced with a course of stars; on bold columnar supports with gilt foliate-carved capitals, on a concave plinth with shaded half-medallion contained by scrolled festoons and palmettos; the rectangular mirror plate flanked by pilasters, on tapering ribbed feet crowned in a ring of acanthus, height 37.25in., width 42 in., depth 18 in.
