An Exceptional Pair of Cased Dueling Pistols by Blanchard of Paris, belonging to ex-Confederate Engineer John B. Vinet (1834-1902) of New Orleans, the fitted velvet lined case bears two .50 caliber pistols with horned implements and an oval brass engraved plaque, "Gen. J.B. Vinet/New Orleans". E10000/12000 Note: As a major in the Civil War, Vinet constructed bridges and fortifications for the Confederacy. He also had a distinguished post-war career in New Orleans.
