An Important Yoruba Carved and Painted Wood Gelede Helmut and Body Mask Ensemble, Nigeria, the hollow head crowned with an openwork "cage" comprised of snakes, lizards, birds and fish, the drum form hollow torso carved with three sectional child figures attached, head height 16 in.; torso height 19 in., the two parts joined by a metal skeleton, approx. overall height 48 in.
