In the letter dated June 3 no year she writes: "Dearest Tenn, I hope that after this summer, it will be along long time before an ocean is between us again..." The letter discusses her separation from husband Reeves and mentions the possibility of going to the beach Cape Cod when Williams returns. The second pencil letter also undated relates...." This last week I have been reading Battle of the Angels and 27 Wagons Full of Cotton some ofthe short plays are superb. The last of the solid Gold Watches has thehaunting nostalgic quality that makes me think of Joyce... She encourages Williams to present the plays "... all Tenn, I have lived this last week in your work. You are infinitely dear to me..." She continues with some unkind words regarding Truman Capote and advises Williams to forget Pancho Rodrigue ... "You must protect yourself fromand disturbances from him, you've had enough. Forget him... love, love love -- Carson". E1000-1500 Note: C arson McCullers wrote the novel The Heart is the Lonely Hunter. Williams greatly admired her and theybecame close personal friends.
