A Chinese Qingbai Glazed Porcelain Jar, Song/Yuan Dynasty, 12th/14th c., ovoid body raised on tall splayed foot, the long neck relief molded with a sinuous dragon and a flaming pearl above a band of eleven figures at the shoulder, overall blueish white glaze, height 13 3/4 in., associated stand, overall height 14 1/2 in Provenance: Acquired c. 1920s-1930s; thence by descent in the family of Madelyn Cohn Cahn Conne Kiam Kreisler (b. 1890, New Orleans - d. 1975, New Orleans). Note: Jars of this form were placed in tombs of the wealthy and contained offerings to the dead.
