A Confederate Cedarwood Drum Canteen, c. 1862, wood and iron construction, with original strap, carved on one side "WWN/Co. A. 4 Miss" and the other side "WWN' and "RCH", diameter 7 1/2 in., depth 2 1/2 in Note: Confederate General Sears listed Private William W. Nations as one of several men who made it to the the Union wall at the Battle of Franklin (Tennessee). Sears was impressed with the achievement to the point of proudly listing their names after the battle. He labeled these Confederates "foremost among the forlorn hope" at Franklin.
