- Notes: Note: Destin, Florida, was founded c. 1845-50 by Captain Leonard Destin; it remained a small fishing village for over a century. In the 1970s extensive development brought an influx of tourists, changing the character, as well as the skyline of Destin. Here Holzhauer depicts the shore as it looked before development.
