Franco-Louisiana School, 19th century Portrait of a Young Man, Member of the Augustine-Wogan-Labranche Family, New Orleans, oil on canvas, unsigned, sight 28 in. x 21.5in E1800-2400 Note: According to family tradition, the young man in the portrait was raised as a Catholic in France. He eventually turned toward the Protestant faith of the Huguenots. This portrait caused a family scandal at the time, because the young man is holding a Huguenot Bible.
