Note: Gladys Rockmore Davis was an accomplished commercial artist, and the mother of well-known artist Noel Rockmore. After many years of working in advertising, Gladys Davis focused her attention to painting and later to pastels. In 1943, she authored the book Pastel Painting for American Studio Books. In the preface to the book, she was described as a "mother of two chip-off-the block children." Drawing from her personal life and experiences, Davis painted images of children, family life and still lives. Interestingly, Noel would eventually adopt his mother¹s maiden name.
