Note: Bass player Alcide "Slow Drag" Pavageau was one of many engaging and talented musicians who played at Preservation Hall in the French Quarter during the 1960s. A member of the Eureka Brass Band, Pavageau had toured with both Bunk Johnson and George Lewis. Known as the "official grand marshal of the second line," Noel Rockmore painted a somber "Slow Drag" dressed in tuxedo tails, a derby hat and sash holding a flower-decorated umbrella, as if he is ready to lead a celebratory procession down the street.
