John McCrady (American, 1911-1968), "West of Denver", multi-stage on canvas, signed lower right, artist label en verso, 16 in. x 20 in., in a frame painted and carved by the artist. E8000/12000 Note: In the early 1950s, John McCrady spent a summer teaching art in Central City, Colorado. The mountainous terrain and gnarled trees proved to be new and interesting subject matter for the artist. The painting "West of Denver" is part of a series of paintings that McCrady did during his trip out west.
