Leng Mei (Chinese, active 1677-1742), an album of twelve circular fan paintings, including ³Listening to the Stream², ³Gathering Medicinal Herbs², ³Sitting Alone², ³Bringing in the Prunus Blossoms (Lin Pu)², ³Visiting Friends², ³Poring over Books², ³Gathering the Long-Life Lingzhi Fungus², ³Drinking Alone (Li Po)², ³Enjoying the Lotus (Chou Tun-i)², ³Contemplating the Peaks², ³The Lute¹s Inclination², and ³Seeking the Prunus (Meng Hao-jan)², ink and color on silk, mounted on accordion fold album leaves, the last inscribed and sealed, each 6 1/2 in. x 8 in. oval, accompanied by three type written pages analyzing and titling the works, by celebrated Chinese art historian, Benjamin Franklin March.
