Leo Meiersdorff (American/New Orleans, 1934-1994), "Jimmy Ille: The Second Line, New Orleans Ragtime Band Featuring Les Muscutt on Banjo", watercolor, signed and dated "76" mid right, sight 21 1/2 in. x 21 1/2 in., framed.

  • Notes: Note: Born in Minnesota, Jimmy Ille (1920-1999) learned how to play the cornet from his stepfather when he was just six years old. In the early 1970s as a bandmaster for a circus, he met his future wife Kay Frances, a gifted acrobat performer. Leo Meirsdorff's painting celebrates the release of the album "The Jimmy Ille New Orleans Ragtime Band: The Second Line."
