Description:

Leonard Theobald Flettrich (American/New Orleans, 1916-1970), "Abstraction", oil on masonite, signed upper left, 24 3/4 in. x 20 1/2 in., in a period frame. Note: Talented New Orleans artist, Leonard Flettrich, studied at the Arts and Crafts Club School in the French Quarter prior to being accepted at the Art Student's League in New York. Upon returning to the city, Flettrich taught the fundamentals of drawing at the Tulane University's School of Architecture and earned mural commissions from the New Orleans Public Library and Jefferson Parish Courthouse (1958). He was married to local television celebrity Terry Flettrich, star of the beloved children's show "Mrs. Muffin's Birthday Party" from 1948 to 1957. The colorful and richly painted "Abstraction" is a wonderful example of Flettrich's modernist work of his later years.
