A New Orleans Coin Silver Baseball Trophy Goblet, unmarked, presentation inscription engraved in cartouche "La State/Fair Association/Baton Rouge./to the/Champion Base/Ball Club/1867" and reverse cartouche "Won by the/Southern/Base Ball Club/of/New Orleans", engine-turned decoration with beaded and guilloche borders, height 6 3/4 in., weight 7.40 troy ozs Note: Thought to be "the oldest relic of Baton Rouge baseball", this trophy commemorates the 1867 defeat of the Baton Rouge Redsticks by the New Orleans Southerns, 109 to 9.
