Pair of American Federal Mahogany Games Tables, early 19th c., attr. to John Needles, Baltimore, each with reeded foldover top, canted corners, plain frieze, ring-turned baluster standard, reeded saber legs, acanthus brass-capped casters, h. 29 1/2 in., w. 37 3/4 in., d. 19 in. Note: A worktable labeled by John Needles held by the Maryland Historical Society (acc. 87.6) has a support and outswept legs very similar to those seen here. Moreover, the turned standards on the pair offered here are similar to two examples labeled by Needles and recorded in the Winterthur Museum Photographic Collection, comprising a center table (DAPC acc. 74.6176) and a work table (DAPC Roll 48-762-306).
