A Pair of Chinese Zitan Buddhist Lions, each recumbent figure carved cradling an openwork 'brocade' ball inset with an inner ball within its forepaws, the female carved with a pup clambering up its side and the male with a windswept ribbon around its forearm, each with its tail and head held upright wearing a ferocious expression, each base incised with a four character Qianlong mark, height 6 3/4 in., width 13 1/4 in Provenance: Indicated with Prince Aixinjueluo Pujun (1885-1942), son of Prince Duan Aixinjueluo Zaiyi and briefly heir to the Tongzhi throne; thence by descent in the Axinjueluo Family.
