His Majesty desires that you vigorously expedite the dislodging of these people. The King wants you to return to M. de la Chaise the soldier named Tilly. I am sir, your humble servant, Pontchartrain., height 8.25in., width 6.25in. E2000-3000 Note Louis Phelypeaux Comte de Pontchartrain (1643-1727), was Minister of the Marine in 1699 when he was appointed Chancellor of France, a post he held until 1717. His son Jerome, Comte de Maurepas, succeeded him as Minister of the Marine, and it was after this family that Lakes Pontchartrain and Maurepas were named.
