An American Classical Carved Mahogany "Grecian" Sofa, early 19th c., attributed to Anthony Quervelle, Philadelphia, scrolling lotus-carved head and bolster, foot with foliate rosette, scrolling back, bolection-molded seat rail with gadrooning, foliate winged paw feet, casters, height 33 1/2 in., width 72 in., depth 22 in.
- Notes: Reference: A known "Grecian" sofa with a back, scroll arm and seat rail closely related to those in this lot is attributed to Anthony Quervelle and is illustrated in Smith, "The Furniture of Anthony Quervelle, Part V: Sofas, Chairs and Beds", Magazine Antiques, (March, 1974), p. 515, fig. 6.
