Louis Antoine Collas (French/New Orleans, 1775-1856, active New Orleans 1822-29), "Portrait of Pierre Laurent Trepagnier", oil on canvas, signed and dated "1827" lower right, 24 in. x 22 in., in an antique gilt frame.

  • Provenance: Provenance: Descended in the family of the sitter.~ Note: Pierre Laurent Trepagnier was the great grandson of Claude Trepagnier and the son of Pierre Francois Trepagnier, who was responsible for the establishment of Ormond Plantation in the 1790s. His mother was Elizabeth Renaud; Pierre Laurent married Heloise Reinne of St. Charles Parish. They had four children: Joseph, Pupona, Esteban, and Francesca. Pierre's sister, Elizabeth, married Sylvain St. Amand, who was a Fusilier-Private in the Louisiana Militia during the War of 1812 and who probably fought in the Battle of New Orleans.
